It's time to head North for the rally. Woke up to another 'grey with grey bits' morning. Set off at 0800 and at 0810 it started to rain. It did this on and off for a couple of hours. Good job I didn't clean the boat, it'd be all dirty again!! Not a lot to say about today, it's a bit of a flog as we head North towards the Tring summit. I put another 100 litres of diesel in the tank and Dave popped to the shop for some rolls, I couldn't get onto the Tesco moorings at Rickmansworth due to inconsiderate mooring by those that were there! Now we'll have to go to Waitrose in Berkhamsted. And we got a sighting of Nessie, must have been blown off course by the strong winds we seem to be getting!
Nessie:
Dave did the boat handling for the last 8 locks of the day:
We're now outside the M25:
All in all, pretty dull, few boats around, we didn't share any of our 20 locks. We badly need a shop, the fridge is empty. Dave has at last caught a fish, his only previous offering was an eel at Teddington lock, now a gudgeon has made the score sheet. I was going to have a bit of a rant about continuous moorers and towpath cyclists, but to be honest, I'm a bit tired and life's too short. Maybe another day!
Today: 14.5 miles - 20 locks - 9 hours
So Far: 446.5 miles - 331 locks - 218 hours
